Handover of unpublished manuscripts of A. Grothendieck to the BnF

Manuscripts of the BnF’s Grothendieck Fund

On 28 September 2023, a ceremony was held in Paris, at the premises of the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), at which Alexander Grothendieck’s heirs gave a number of their father’s unpublished manuscripts over to the BnF. These manuscripts, about 30,000 pages collected in 41 volumes, gather reflections on an extraordinary variety of topics, relating to mathematics, philosophy, metaphysics and psychology. They were left to the BnF by Grothendieck himself and, in part, donated by his heirs, for them to be made available to researchers. The ceremony, at which some of the manuscripts were shown, was attended by about twenty selected guests, including the President of the Grothendieck Institute, Prof. Olivia Caramello.
