The event “Toposes in Mondovi” – fourth edition of the world congress on topos theory – organized by the Grothendieck Institute ended on 11 September 2024.
The conference, patronised by the City of Mondovi, was widely appreciated by the academic community, registering 121 participants from 5 continents and 30 nations, and the presence of 3 Fields Medalists among the speakers (Alain Connes, Laurent Lafforgue and Maxim Kontsevich).
To facilitate the participation of deserving students from all over the world, the Grothendieck Institute awarded a number of scholarships to partially cover their travel, board and accommodation costs.
The program was spread over 7 days of activities (4 days of school at the Mondovi site of the Polytechnic University of Turin and 3 days of conference, at the Circolo di Lettura in the Governor’s Palace in Mondovi Piazza), with 8 courses held by internationally renowned lecturers, 10 invited talks given by specialists and 14 talks by young researchers, selected by the conference’s Scientific Committee.
The scientific program of the conference has been complemented by two events for the general public – both of which have sold out – aimed at exploring the links between mathematics and the arts, in particular literature and music.
All the activities organized as part of the conference, from lectures to specialized talks and public events, were video-recorded and will soon be available on the Grothendieck Institute’s YouTube channel.
