Internship on the application of toposes to AI

Ethan Jolivet, a student at the École Polytechnique in Paris, recently successfully completed a four-month research internship in topos theory at the Centre for Topos Theory and its Applications (CTTA).

Under the supervision of Professor Olivia Caramello, the Centre’s coordinator, Jolivet worked on applying relative topos theory to the automated solution of tasks requiring abstract reasoning skills, such as Raven’s matrices and ARC-type problems. These tasks involve recognising patterns, identifying relationships and inferring rules from a small number of examples.
