
The Grothendieck Institute is glad to announce the appointment of Prof. Charles Alunni as the new Coordinator of the Centre for Grothendieckian Studies (CSG), starting from 1 April 2025.
Charles Alunni is a French philosopher, former professor at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (Italy); he founded and directed the Laboratoire disciplinaire “Pensée des sciences” at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.
Alunni is well known for his work in the philosophy of science and has extensively studied the thoughts of notable figures like Gaston Bachelard and Gilles Châtelet. His research interests include the interplay between mathematics, philosophy, and linguistics. Alunni has authored several books and numerous articles on the history and philosophy of contemporary mathematics. He has also organized international conferences and edited several books, and is a member of the editorial board of the journal Revue de synthèse (Fondation pour la Science/Caphès).
We give a most cordial welcome to Charles and wish him every success in his new role.
